The High-Quality Products We Use
At River City Sewer and Drain, we make sure to protect Your sewer and drains with high-quality products. One of these is RootX®, a patented chemical root control formula that offers non-systemic root protection. It selectively targets only the roots it encounters, ensuring no harm to pipes, septic systems, or the surrounding plant and tree life. Consistent annual RootX treatments will maintain a root-free plumbing system, reducing the risk of expensive sewer line and septic tank repairs.
In 1994, RootX was introduced and patented as an innovative root control formula. Unlike other root control solutions that posed exposure issues and environmental concerns, RootX was meticulously engineered to address these problems. Its primary goal was to eliminate pipeline roots while safeguarding the treatment systems at downstream wastewater treatment plants. RootX was designed for ease of use, speed, and cost-effectiveness, eliminating the need for extensive training or costly additional equipment.
RootX works by immediately killing roots upon contact, and as these roots decompose over time, they are naturally carried away by the flow of the pipe, restoring it to its full capacity. Additionally, RootX creates a protective barrier on the inner walls of the pipe, preventing future root growth. What sets the product apart from other brands is its commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
Professional Application
RootX is professionally applied by plumbing experts, either through an outdoor sewer cleanout or toilet access. When the two dry ingredients come into contact with water, they form a foamy mixture that reaches the upper section of the pipe, where approximately 90% of root intrusions occur. The foam effectively penetrates and initiates root extermination within the first hour after application. Additionally, the RootX foam leaves a thin herbicidal coating on the interior of the pipes, preventing root regrowth for up to one year.
Environmentally Safe
RootX's active ingredient is Dichlobenil, a well-established aquatic herbicide. RootX is environmentally friendly, being non-caustic and non-fumigating. It contains none of the environmentally harmful substances such as diquat dibromide, copper sulfate, or metam sodium. RootX has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use in all 50 states and has passed rigorous EPA tests related to fish and wildlife protection. It stands as a secure and effective solution for addressing root intrusions in pipelines while minimizing environmental impact.
